Meet Mr. T

Hello, my name is David Tournoux, but the students know me as "Mr. T", and I am the music teacher at Putney Central School. At PCS, I have the pleasure of teaching music to all of our students. I also have the opportunity to direct Choirs, Concert Bands, and Modern Bands which perform throughout the year. 

I grew up in Ohio and studied Music Education with an emphasis in concert band at the Capital University Conservatory of Music in Columbus in 2008. In the summer of 2025, I earned my Masters of Music Education with an emphasis on choir at the VanderCook College of music in Chicago.

I came to Putney Central School after teaching music in Chicago Public Schools for 13 years. While it was an amazing experience living and teaching in the big city, I have been in my true element here in Vermont. PCS instantly felt like home the second I arrived here in 2021. 

In addition to teaching music, I perform with ensembles including the Brattleboro Legion Band and the Windham Philharmonic. I also enjoy playing trumpet with the Casual Five Brass Quintet.
